SYLLABUS OUTLINE
'Practical Journalistic Writing Skills' is designed to give students the flexibility of studying at their own pace
and at a location best suited to themselves. Each student is allocated a personal tutor who corrects each
assignment and offers feedback on the content. The course gives a good grounding in the basic theory and
practice of journalism. Topics studied include:
Introduction to Journalism
Journalists and the law
Use of language
News Reporting
Writing for Newsletters
Feature Articles
How the media works
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Practical Journalistic Writing Skills is an 'open entry' course.
Candidates must be at least 17 years of age.
Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of written and spoken English.
