Diploma in Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing

Part-time course of 1 years duration

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE COURSE?

This course is designed for people who are interested in a career in MarComms (Marketing Communications - a combination of Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing).

The course will be of interest to:

  • those who wish to embark on a career in communications combining public relations, advertising and marketing disciplines
  • those currently employed in PR departments/consultancies who wish to gain practical knowledge of the promotional skills used by marketing, public relations and advertising practitioners
  • those who wish to apply PR and promotional techniques in their current position.

SYLLABUS OUTLINE

The Diploma is taught over a one-year period and is awarded on successful completion of one project and five examinations. Currently, the subjects are structured as follows:

  • Marketing
  • Advertising
  • Public Relations
  • International Business Communications
  • Buyer Behaviour and Consumerism

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should be advised that the Diploma in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations is a 3rd. level course, for which the following entry requirements are necessary:

  • Candidates must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Candidates should have achieved their Leaving Certificate with honours in 5 subjects, two of which should be English and Maths. The subject grades, ordinary level papers, should be Grade C or higher.

Mature Applicants who fail to meet the above requirements should contact the Academy regarding application procedures.

Selection will be by written application only. Places are limited and will, therefore, be offered in order of application.

FEES

The fee for the Diploma in Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing is €1,850. Application forms should be accompanied by a deposit of €150.

The deposit will be refunded if the application is unsuccessful.

The balance of the fee will be invoiced to students who have been accepted onto the course, and should be paid in full before the course begins.

Students are liable to pay student membership of €75, and examination fees, currently €135 per student.
